Longest Run Ever -- 18 Miles today

First some good news, I finished the 18 miles run within 3 hours.
Actually, the time is: 172 minutes 39 seconds:

The good news was that I weighed 172.6 lbs after the run.
It's so close to my short term goal of 170 lbs.

I did not prepare too much for the run. I went to the restroom
on mile 4; Ate a gel on mile 5; Another gel on mile 12; and went
the restroom 2nd time on mile 14th. For some reason, I still
do like to bring water at all; so I got all water from the faucet
along the trail. Hope they are ok(all other runners drank as well).

It is very encouraging that I can see the weight was lower again.
And I did not feel much after the run, though I did foam roller
for 90 minutes after the running.

Hope you guys don't feel bored reading this blog. The main purpose
is that if you want to run, you can do it. If you want to lose weight,
you can also do it.

When I started running, someone told me that I would hurt my knee
and will quit soon, and I will gain the wight back again. I will try my
best to make those not happening. I know someone indeed quit
sometime after the running because of the injury, but they want to
have a goal of running "faster". Faster is not my goal, healthy running
is my goal, losing weight is my goal. And know I feel a little bit light
when I run with my body weighs only around 175lbs now.

I will try my next goal of 20 miles either of the next two weekends.
I know I could do it today, but I still want to do everything as planned.

Just wondering where you did the long runs. Can you suggest any nice route?

If you want to start running, you can check with local fleet Feet store, Sports Authorit first, they have some basic trainings for 5k, 10k runs, then Half Marathon, Marathon Training. Though you can run my yourself, but I will recommend some training at the beginning. It will help you to understand the nutrition, the equipment, some cross-training, hydration, etc.

If you can read Chinese, you can go to http://www.mitbbs.com/bbsdoc/Running.html to ask all kind of questions, even for the local routes.

I will email you a few local routes for you.
